Privacy notice

You probably got here from a "Privacy" link in a verification box on someone's website. This page explains exactly what that box does.

What happens when you verify

Your browser asks this service for a set of maths puzzles, solves them (this takes a second or two of processor time), and sends the answers back. If the answers are right, the website you're on receives a one-time code proving that the work was done. That's all.

What we collect

Your IP addressCounting how many puzzles your network asked for recently, so floods can be slowed down. It is reduced to your network (the full IPv4 address, or the first half of an IPv6 address), then replaced by a keyed hash. The key exists only in memory and changes every 24 hours.Only the hash, in memory, for up to 10 minutes after your last request. Never written to disk or logs.

What we don't do

Legal basis

The website using this box does so to protect its forms against automated abuse (legitimate interest, GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)). Because nothing is stored on your device, no consent banner is needed for it under the ePrivacy rules. Questions about the website itself should go to that website's operator; questions about this service go to its operator.
